Another party is being organised by Miles’ team of event coordinators. This was a smaller gathering than the last. Consisting of two thousand of the guests that were invited to the last launch event and, a further thousand more people were invited. Made up of social media influencers with followers of one hundred people or less. Mile’s coordinators did think this an unusual choice given the need to promote the new product but no one dared to raise it.

The guests were asked to keep the event secret until after launch night. To ensure that they did as instructed, the invitation was accompanied by a set of Non-Disclosure Agreement documents, and a box that contained cartier jewellery, bottles of Cristal champagne and a gold covered mobile phone, with the promise of more freebies at the event. Who could say no to such an extravagant offer?

The Company Agents were out in force and overseeing the event and its security detail. This was to be an outdoor party, held in the sprawling Beverly hills estate that Miles owned on the edge of Calabasas. As guests arrive, they are injected with the new software chip, as a condition of entry. This did not take that much persuasion as they all seemed thrilled to be the first to have one of these highly sort after devices. Music was blaring out of the speakers dotted around the acres of land. The paths were lit up with twinkling lights, which would lead the guests to a place that is off of the manicured residential land. Out into a canyon. A deep recessed area below the main building. All is quiet there; all is dark in this hidden valley and the guests assume this is like the other event where there was a carefully orchestrated building up of the introduction to the product - but they are very wrong.

When all the guests are assembled in the darkness and all three thousand souls are gathered on the same plot of land. A large, tall beacon is lit. Built of wood and tree branches, and it had been stacked before a shrine. A warlock starts to speak in a dialect not heard in centuries. His voice booming out over the canyon and his speech reverberates all around, not through speakers but through the power of the spell that is being recited. The night sky that was once a velvety and welcoming navy blue full of twinkling lights, is now darkened by heavy and thick black clouds. A stillness settles on the crowd of apprehensive exhilaration. Miles looks on, shrouded in a hooded cloak. He is waiting before the shrine with bated breath. Eventually, the priest comes to the end of the rite and nods to give Miles his cue. Miles deliriously happy, as he finally raises his hands to the sky and bellows “Find me worthy to serve you as your Champion oh Horned One and take this offering as a gift from me” and with this pledge to serve
